Tech Bloc has cultivated a trusted adviser relationship with local government officials and employees. Mayor Ivy Taylor previously voted in support of mandated fingerprinting for ride-sharing companies — a move Uber and Lyft stated would prompt them to leave, if passed. Months later, she rolled up to City Hall for a press conference in a car driven for Lyft Inc. on its first day back. Nearly all City Council members have followed that trajectory and curled up to the techies.
